Product Introduction

PPGI (Pre-Painted Galvanized Steel) is a composite steel material, where cold-rolled or galvanized steel coils are coated with multi-layer organic coatings. These coatings include a primer, topcoat, and backcoat, providing both the strength of steel and the weather resistance and aesthetic properties of polymer materials. The typical coating thickness ranges from 15 to 25μm. Custom colors and textures such as solid colors, wood grain, and stone grain are available, making it ideal for various construction, appliance, and transportation applications.

Production Process

The production of PPGI coils involves several stages:

  • Substrate Preparation: Choose cold-rolled or galvanized coils to ensure a clean, flat surface.
  • Pre-treatment: Includes degreasing using alkaline solutions and chemical conversion (phosphatization or chromatization) to enhance coating adhesion.
  • Coating: Roller coating with epoxy primer and polyester/fluorocarbon topcoat applied to both sides of the coil.
  • Baking and Curing: Baking at high temperature to cross-link the coatings, forming a dense protective layer.
  • Post-processing: Embossing, laminating, or cutting to custom dimensions based on customer requirements.

Interactive Q&A

What are the benefits of using PPGI coils in construction?
PPGI coils offer corrosion resistance, aesthetic flexibility with various colors and textures, and reduced weight compared to traditional materials like stone and glass. This makes them ideal for roofing, walling, and cladding systems.

Can I customize the color of the PPGI coil?
Yes, PPGI coils are available in custom colors, including solid colors, wood grain, and stone grain textures, tailored to meet your specific design requirements.

How does the corrosion resistance of PPGI compare to other materials?
The galvanized substrate combined with the organic coating provides excellent corrosion resistance, with salt spray resistance exceeding 1000 hours, which is superior to many other materials in harsh environments.
